Welcome in New South Wales!

Hi lieve Fans!

Welkom bij weer een nieuwe blog uit Australië( Voor degene die het nog niet wisten New South Wales), vers van de pers speciaal voor jou. Want bij deze blog ga ik even op verzoekjes in die ik heb gekregen! Namelijk waar ik woon, de omgeving hier en de cultuur. 

Nou allereerst woon ik sinds een weekje in Belrose, dit is een buitenwijk van Sydney. Ik woon in de tuin van mijn host family, ze hebben een granny flat(studio)die echt ruim en mooi is zoals je kunt zien op de foto's hieronder.Het ligt op zo een 40 minuten van de stad, en voor Australische normen is dat redelijk dichtbij haha! Het is een buitenwijk met redelijke kasten van huizen en er zijn dan ook sportvelden in de buurt voor de kinderen etc.

Ook is er een shopping mal op 20 minuutjes loop afstand and again dit is echt heel normaal dat de supermarkt niet om de hoek is. Belrose( Roze rondje) ligt dus boven Sydney en is daarom een klein stukje dichterbij Manly(Blauwe rondje op de kaart). Manly is echt een hip en tof gedeelte van Sydney waar de echte surfers vibe hangt!

Hier ben ik dan ook geweest op mijn vrije dag vorige week en heb een heerlijk dagje gehad op het strand en een stuk gelopen! Ik ben helemaal naar het onderste puntje 'gehiked' door het Sydney Harbour National Parc, dit word North Head genoemd en hier kun je heel mooi uitkijken over de skyline van Sydney. De natuur is ook echt wonderschoon zoals je kan zien.

Deze wandeling heeft mij wel echt laten zien hoe mooi maar ook gevaarlijk Australië kan zijn. De hitte was namelijk echt heftig en binnen 15 minuten had ik mijn flesjes water al leeg en toen moest ik nog  een uur lopen tot het eindpunt en dat is geen pretje met 33 graden volle zon op je kop. Maarja het uitzicht was het meer dan waard :)

Toch wil ik nog heel graag Manly een keer in vanwege de Ferry die naar Sydney gaat, schijnt heel leuk te zijn om die te nemen omdat je door de havens vaart. En In Sydney zelf ben ik nog niet geweest maar  wil ik wel heeel graag gaan ontdekken. Zo heb ik oomijn lijstje staan; de dierentuin, skytower, opera house, city walk, harbour bridge en nog veel meer. Wel ben ik meer naar het Noorden geweest, hier heb ik een nachtje geslapen bij de grootouders van de kids. Deze geweldig gastvrije mensen wonen in Avalon in het mooiste huid waar ik ooit ben geweest denk ik. Toen ik binnen kwam dacht ik al holy macaroni, maar het uitzicht... Niet. Normaal. Hoe.mooi.

Avalon is zoals je ook op de foto's ziet een echt surfers plaatsje, er zijn dus veel surfers maar ook walvissen die voorbij trekken! Op het terras ben je dan ook wel even zoet want je kijkt je ogen uit;)

Zoals ik in mijn vorige blog liet weten ben ik hier echt geweldig ontvangen, en dat is ook echt iets van de Australische mensen. Ze zijn gewoon echt zo open, vriendelijk en spontaan. Natuurlijk is niet iedereen hetzelfde maar de meeste mensen die ik ben tegen gekomen zijn echt een voorbeeld van hoe mensen met elkaar moeten om gaan vind ik! Ook kan je geen dag zonder iets te horen over Baseball, Soccer, touch football, Rugby, hockey, AFL, tennis and more! Toch hebben we wel wat overeenkomsten zoals de lekkere koffietentjes, redelijk hetzelfde eten en de gezelligheid met familie en vrienden.

Ik hoop dat ik zo een wat beter beeld heb gegeven van waar ik precies woon en wat er hier ook een beetje te doen is.

Volgende keer zal ik wat meer vertellen over hoe mijn weken eruit zien en wat ik deze week ga doen op zondag-familiedag. Want mijn lieve host-family mom heeft een adventure dag in het leven geroepen, dus gaan we iets leuks doen wat met het ontdekken van de omgeving te maken heeft😊

Hi there my aussie friends!

Welcome to another new blog from Australia (For those who didn't know yet New South Wales), fresh form the bakery especially for you. Because with this blog I will respond to requests I have received! About where I live, the environment here and the culture.

So there we go, I live in Belrose a suburb of Sydney( located in New South Wales). I live in the garden of my host family, they have a granny flat (studio) that is really spacious and beautiful as you can see in the pictures below. It is about 40 minutes from the city, and for Australian standards that is fairly close haha! It is a suburb with for me big houses and there are also sports fields nearby for the children etc.

There is also a small shopping mall with in 20 minutes walking distance and again this is really normal that the supermarket is not around the corner. Belrose (Pink circle) is therefore above Sydney and is therefore a little bit closer to Manly (Blue circle on the map). Manly is really a hip and cool part of Sydney where the surfer vibe rules the town!

I have been here on my day off last week and had a wonderful day at the beach and walked a lot! I 'hiked' all the way to the bottom of the Sydney Harbor National Parc, this is called North Head and here you can look out over the Sydney skyline. Nature is really beautiful as you can see. This walk really showed me how beautiful but also dangerous Australia can be. The heat was really intense and within 15 minutes I already finished my 2 bottles of water and then I had to walk another hour to the end point and that is no fun with 33 degrees full sunshine on your head. Anyway the view was more than worth it :)

Still I really want to visit Manly once because of the Ferry that goes to Sydney, seems to be very nice to take because you sail through the harbour. And I haven't been to Sydney yet, but I really want to go and discover it. A few on the list are: the zoo, sky tower, opera house, city walk, harbor bridge and much more. I have been more to the North, here I slept one night with the grandparents of the kids. These wonderfull hospitable people live in Avalon in the most beautiful house I have ever been to, I think. When I came in I already thought holy macaroni, but the view ... Not. Normal. How beautiful. As you can see on the pictures, Avalon is a real surfers place, so there are many surfers but also whales that pass by! 

As I mentioned in my previous blog, I really received a great welcome here, and that is a culture thing because they just open tehir arms and welcome their in you family. They are just really so open, friendly and spontaneous. Of course not everyone is the same but most of the people I have met are really an example of how people should treat with each other, I think! You also can't go a day without hearing about Baseball, Soccer, touch football, Rugby, hockey, AFL, tennis and more! Yet we do have some parable things such as the tasty coffee tents, fairly the same food and the socializing with family and friends.

I hope that I have giving you a better picture about the house and the surroundings.
